Our Center for Energy develops innovative solutions for the energy systems of the future. Our research focuses on three core areas: Public Energy Supply Systems, Industrial Energy Systems, and Cities & Built Environment
We are currently seeking a Head to lead the Center for Energy, which comprises approximately 285 researchers and experts, at our headquarters in Vienna.
Head (M/F/D) of Center for Energy
- You will be responsible for the development and implementation of the research strategy and the associated portfolio development concerning funded research projects and direct assignments from industry.
- You will create options for the scientific and economic utilization of research results (publications, patents, licensing models, spin-offs).
- You will be accountable for achieving the scientific and economic goals of the Center, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration with other centers, and contributing to the implementation of the overall AIT strategy.
- You will continuously expand national and international strategic partnerships with industry, universities, and research institutions.
- You will be responsible for the leadership and development of experts, creating an optimal environment for researchers that promotes innovation and first-class research results, strengthening collaboration and motivation, and making the Center an attractive employer nationally and internationally.
As an Ingenious Partner, you stand out with:
- Habilitation or equivalent qualification* in a technically relevant scientific field.
- Proven expertise in at least two of the following research areas of the Center:
- Integrated Energy Systems and Sector Coupling
- Energy Economics and Logistics
- Electrical Energy Generation and Distribution (hybrid power plant technologies, integration of renewable energies, and storage technologies)
- Thermal Energy Technology (heating and cooling networks, high-temperature heat pumps, HVAC systems)
- Hydrogen Technology (integration into the energy system, development, and testing of electrolyzers, including material development)
- Electrical System Components and Power Electronics for Medium Voltage Applications
- Decarbonization of Cities and Efficient Building Technologies
- Modeling, Simulation, and Optimization of Electrical and Thermal Energy Systems and Components
- Digitalization and Automation of Energy Systems
- Several years of leadership experience in technology, research, or industrial companies (personnel and budget responsibility)
- Competence in leading international and national research programs as well as complex research and innovation projects
- A comprehensive overview of relevant stakeholders in the energy sector and an active, international network
- Appreciative and respectful communication and a team-oriented working style
- Fluent German and English skills
What you can expect:
- The minimum gross annual salary starts at EUR 160,000. The actual total salary package will be individually determined according to qualifications and experience.
